The country’s Association of Civil Servants has announced a 24 hour stike on Wednesday, October 5, 2011. This action will affect both international and domestic mail transportation.

Canada Post has initiated the process to resume operations following the passage of back to work legislation (Bill C-6, An Act to provide for the resumption and continuation of postal services). Back to work legislation designed to put postal workers back on the job is being debated through the weekend to get it passed. The NDP is fillibustering but the majority will pass the legislation as early as Monday or possibly Tuesday.
IMS is continuing to accept Canadian mail and will process and enter immediately once the USPS and Canada Post decide to accept it. I will update over the weekend if we get any new information.
