Prices for most Postal Service mailing and shipping services will change on January 22, 2012. First Class letters under 1 oz to Canada and Mexico will increase $0.05 and $0.07 to the rest of the world. Complete rates will be sent to all customers once available.
The Postal Service yesterday filed new mailing services prices with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC). Price increases are limited to the Consumer Price Index cap of 1.7 percent, consistent with the Postal Law of 2006. Many will recall that on October 1 the Postal Rate Commission (PRC) denied the USPS’s request for an exigent price increase (in excess of the CPI cap). While some thought this meant no international rates would change, it only meant that rates for “market dominant” products would not change. Internationally, only First Class Mail International fits into this category.
“Competitive services”, the category that includes IPA and ISAL, will incur a price increase on January 2, 2011. (more…)

May means a couple of things - spring flowers at trout camp and postage rates are changing. As I’m sure most have heard, International rates through the USPS are being “adjusted” on May 11, 2009 concurrently with the domestic rates and services. Unlike the previous two rate cases where there were double digit increases to Canada and Western Europe (the two highest volume destinations), these changes are minimal. (more…)
