5/18/12 Customs process to change dramatically in Oct 2012

IMPORTANT!  ”Export Compliance” will require electronic transmission of all customs information after October 31, 2012.

  

For ANYONE sending items that require a customs form, these changes will affect YOU even if you only send one at a time..  These packages include printed matter over 13 ozs, dutiable items, or any items that because of their size (over 3/4″ thick) are classified as “packages”.

 

The words “EXPORT COMPLIANCE” will be discussed at length in the coming weeks and months as the Federal government (not the USPS) moves to implement sweeping changes to the way we present package content information.  It’s important to note that this initiative is driven by the threat of terrorism and has nothing to do with the collection of duties and taxes. 2/20/12 Expect strike delays in Germany

Deutsche Post informs of a 48 hour labor dispute of the union of Air Traffic Controllers starting Monday 2/20 and lasting until Wednesday 2/22. 

  • On Friday (2/17) 301 of 1,082 flights were cancelled
  • Expecting 30% of 1,200 daily flights will be cancelled
  • Mail outbound from Germany to other Western European countries will be transported by road, so delays to be expected

1/30/12 Snowstorms in Greece

1/26/12 Strike in Italy

The Italian Postal Administration has informed us that, due to the air transport’s strike of January 27th that most of the international flights arriving and/or leaving Milan will suffer heavy delays and several of them will be cancelled.  This action is bound to cause temporary delays across the system.

1/12/12 New postage rates for 2012

11/30/11 Union to strike in Greece

The Association of Civil Servants and the Confederation of Greek Workers have announced a 24 hour strike on Thursday, December 1, 2011.

This action will affect both international and domestic flights and also mail collection and delivery.  The air traffic controllers have also announced a 2 hour work stoppage between 1200 and 1400 local time the same day.

11/30/11 Strike in El Salvador

A strike by customs officials has been disrupting international mail services since November 28, 2011.  El Salvador Post will keep designated operators updated on the situation and thanks them for their understanding and cooperation.

10/11/11 Cargo embargo in Germay

Deutsche Post DHL informs that they were informed that a staff assembly by “Groundhandler Fraport” will be held on Oct. 10, 2011 from 14:00-15:00h.  Action will most likely cause a complete carge embargo for all incoming and outgoing flights between 13:45h-15:15h.  It can also lead to substantial irregularities for the next two days.

10/4/11 Strike action in Greece on 10/5/11
